Adult – Only Trip to Universal Orlando Resort and Walt Disney World Resorts

When people think of Universal Orlando Resort and Walt Disney World Resorts, they often picture families with kids, strollers, and Mickey ears. But these iconic destinations aren’t just for children—they’re perfect for adults looking to reconnect, recharge, and enjoy some unforgettable fun. Jeremy and I recently had our first adult-only trip in years! We had so much fun and we got to be kids again, without having our kids join us.
Taking a vacation without kids isn’t selfish—it’s essential.
Here’s why:
✨Reconnecting with Your Partner or Friends
Life can get busy, and sometimes relationships take a backseat to responsibilities. For us, life is work, kids, house work and repeat. This adult-only trip gave us the chance to truly focus on each other. Stroll through immersive lands, share laughs on thrilling rides, and savor long dinners without interruptions. This was a huge plus for us!
✨Relaxation and Freedom
Without kids, there’s no need to juggle nap times, strollers, or picky eaters. We got to explore what we wanted and how we wanted. You can explore the parks at your own pace, linger in your favorite spots, and prioritize the things you love most—whether that’s thrill rides, fine dining, or simply lounging by the pool at a luxury resort.
✨Rediscovering Joy
Adulting can sometimes feel a little too serious. We both work jobs that can take a toll on us mentally so to have the opportunity to feel the job the parks brings, was recharging in its own. We were able to leave our worries at the gate, embrace our inner child, and revel in pure fun.
During our trip we got to enjoy the parks without having to worry about heights, who would get to scared to go on a ride and whining from not getting something in every gift shop. Well, I didn’t need to, Jeremy thought otherwise. 😉
Our Time in the Parks
Universal Orlando is a haven for grown-up fun, blending heart-pounding attractions with sophisticated experiences.
I would say we are adrenaline junkies and love rides like VelociCoaster and The Incredible Hulk Coaster. If you haven’t been on them, these attractions are designed to test your limits and provide a rush of excitement you’ll be talking about long after the trip is over. We loved to be able to use our Express Pass to bypass the lines.
I can’t go without getting a Butterbeer and walking around Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade like there is no care in the world. We will also not miss riding Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. We escaped the rain to an empty Ollivanders were Jeremy got to play along! The incredible attention to detail is something we couldn’t get enough of. Jeremy helped me spot characters! Even though we enjoyed the bit being there, we loved recording the characters say hello to the kids!
Disney isn’t just for kids—it’s a playground for adults, with plenty of opportunities to indulge, explore, and relax.
This trip we did not enjoy the samples of fine wines in Italy, enjoy margaritas in Mexico, or try sushi in Japan but we did enjoy resort hoping and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom.
We started our day getting to Animal Kingdom then to take all transportation options while exploring resorts. I wanted to see the holiday decorations and tour resorts I haven’t seen. At the party we did not focus on rides although we still got on many of our favorites, but focused on taking in the magic of Christmas and meet characters that would make are kids jealous when we showed them.
The magic of strolling down Main Street enjoying Snoap falling down and taking in the view of the castle hits differently when you don’t have to manage little ones.
We found that this trip had us share adventures that we haven’t had before, we got to experience quality time with each other with discussions that are hard to have with our kids around and we got to relax and pick up the pace when we wanted. We enjoyed the magic of both parks even more so.
Final Thoughts
An adult-only trip to Universal Orlando Resort and Walt Disney World Resort is more than just a getaway—it’s an opportunity to recharge, reconnect, and rediscover the magic of fun and adventure. Whether you’re bonding over a thrill ride, sipping cocktails at sunset, or sharing a quiet moment during a nighttime show, these parks offer something truly special for adults.
So, pack your bags, embrace your playful side, and get ready to create magical memories. Sometimes, leaving the kids at home is exactly what you need to feel like a kid again—together.
