Springtime Magic: Celebrating Easter at Walt Disney World Resort

Spring is one of the most enchanting times to visit Walt Disney World Resort! The Florida sun is warm but not yet summer-scorching, the parks are in full bloom, and there’s a sense of renewal and celebration in the air. With Easter festivities, dazzling displays, and special treats, the magic of Disney combined with the joy of the holiday creates an unforgettable experience!
If you’re considering a Spring trip to Disney, here’s everything you need to know—from can’t-miss Easter activities to crowd-beating strategies—so you can make the most of your magical getaway!
The Beauty of Spring at Walt Disney World
Springtime in Florida is great. The weather is comfortably warm, usually ranging from the mid-70s to low 80s, making it ideal for long park days without the intense heat of summer. The cooler mornings and evenings offer perfect conditions for strolling through the parks, enjoying outdoor dining, and exploring Disney’s stunning gardens.
A standout experience during spring is EPCOT’s International Flower & Garden Festival, a must-see event for everyone in your traveling party. The park bursts with colorful floral displays, whimsical topiaries of beloved Disney characters, and seasonal food booths offering delicious, fresh flavors. The outdoor kitchens feature spring-inspired dishes and beverages, while live Garden Rocks concerts add a lively soundtrack to your day.
Some of my favorites topiaries from last Spring 2024 included Figment, Asha’s Wish, and baby Groot. The pictures of the new Moana topiaries look beautiful for this 2025 season and I can’t wait to see them on my next visit in early May. My daughter and I enjoyed the Spring “Frushi” roll, Brunchcot’s avocado toast, and Brunchot’s Fried Cinnamon Roll Bites with cream cheese frosting and candied bacon. Yum!
Easter Celebrations Across the Parks and Resorts
Walt Disney World offers a variety of enchanting Easter-themed experiences that add an extra layer of magic to your visit.
- Meet the Easter Bunny at Magic Kingdom: No Easter celebration would be complete without a visit from the Easter Bunny himself! At Magic Kingdom, you can meet Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny near the Town Square Courtyard. The pair make special appearances in the days leading up to Easter Sunday, creating a perfect photo op.
- Easter Pre-parade: Catch this parade, featuring rare characters, colorful costumes, and springtime decor. While not guaranteed every year, it’s worth checking the entertainment schedule around the holiday to see if it is a feature.
- The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa: Elegant Easter Egg Display & Treats: Just a short monorail ride from Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa offers their annual Easter Egg Display in its elegant lobby. The resort’s talented pastry chefs create massive, hand-decorated chocolate eggs with intricate Disney-themed designs. Each egg is a work of art & they are so fun to see!
- Two of our favorites last year were Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway themed Fireworks that actually lit up in the large chocolate egg and Beauty and the Beast that spun in a circle! Easter and Spring time chocolate treats are also available for purchase in a cute Spring time cottage.
- EPCOT’s Eggstravaganza Scavenger Hunt: For a fun and interactive Easter activity, participate in the Eggstravaganza Scavenger Hunt at EPCOT. This limited-time event takes you on an egg hunt around World Showcase, where you’ll search for oversized Disney character-themed eggs. This activity is fantastic for families, offering a fun way to explore EPCOT’s countries while celebrating the holiday!
- Purchase a map and stickers at select merchandise locations, and as you spot each hidden egg, mark its location on the themed map. Once you complete the hunt, you’ll receive a festive keepsake prize! Last year they were character medals, this year they are cute character eggs, and in years past they were other character themed items such as plates.
- Special Easter Treats Around Walt Disney World: One of the best parts of celebrating any holiday at Disney is indulging in the festive snacks and treats! During the Easter season, you’ll find limited-time offerings throughout the parks and resorts, such as:
- Easter-themed cupcakes: Featuring pastel colors, bunny ears, and edible glitter, these are a staple at many quick-service locations.
- Seasonal chocolate creations: Bakeries and confectionaries, such as The Confectionery on Main Street, U.S.A., offer hand-decorated chocolate eggs, fudge, and marshmallow pops.
- Spring-inspired cocktails and mocktails: At EPCOT’s Flower & Garden Festival, you can sip on floral and fruit-infused beverages that perfectly complement the season. A violet lemonade is a must!
6. Easter Services: On and Off Property: If celebrating your faith is part of your Easter tradition, Disney offers options for religious services.
- On Easter Sunday, Disney traditionally holds Catholic Mass and Protestant Services at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. These services are typically held in one of the resort’s ballrooms, but be sure to check the schedule in advance, as availability can vary and space is limited.
- If you prefer an off-property service, nearby churches offer Easter celebrations. Mary, Queen of the Universe Shrine, located just a few miles from Disney, offers Catholic services and is a popular choice for visitors.
Lastly, Tips for Beating the Spring Break & Easter Crowds:
Spring, especially around Easter, is a popular time to visit Disney, making it essential to have a solid strategy for managing the crowds. This peak season is sure to have high crowds but it’s all how you manage your expectations, plans, and how flexible you are willing to be! Here are a few PRO-tips:
- Purchase Lightning Lanes: If you want to experience popular attractions without spending hours in line, purchasing Single & Multi-Pass Lightning Lanes–they are worth the investment especially during this time!
- Take breaks in less crowded areas within the parks: Here are some of my favs!
- Magic Kingdom: Storybook Circus tent in Fantasyland near the Barnstormer. The Splash Pad turns on during hot days too!
- EPCOT: The Land– 2nd floor of Living with the Land (a not miss in my book!) & the Seas aquarium.
- Animal Kingdom: Nomad’s Lounge– covered outside with a view of the river, it is quite peaceful. Add your name to the waitlist and come back when a spot is ready, including couches & a kid’s meal!
- Hollywood Studios: Pixar Plaza– a quiet deadend in the afternoons after the character meet & greets finish up for the day. Sit & enjoy a Jack-Jack Nom-Nom Cookie!
- Enjoy a resort day: Stay on the Walt Disney World Resort property and consider dedicating a day to your Disney resort!. The pools, lounges, and recreational activities offer a perfect way to relax and recharge. We stayed at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa last April and loved our experience, from our Deluxe 1 Bedroom Villa to the Easter Egg displays & treats to the relaxing pools and splash pads but most of all, the easy access to the parks by the Monorail!
