A Disney Vacation That’s in a Galaxy Far, Far Away

Star Wars fans—the Season of the Force is upon us! May is often referred to as Star Wars Month due to the franchise’s significant events and anniversaries throughout the month. The most well-known are Star Wars Day on May the 4th and the original film’s release on May 25th. This makes May the best time to celebrate Star Wars at the Disney Parks!
To plan the most out-of-this-world Star Wars Disney vacation, here are some things to consider when visiting either the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida or the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
An entire land dedicated to immersing yourself in your own Star Wars story, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge transports you to Black Spire Outpost on Batuu, a remote trading planet on the edge of Wild Space. This incredible land can be found at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Park at Disneyland Resort.
There are two thrilling attractions in this land:
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – Take control of the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy! You and your crew will blast into hyperspace on a special mission for Hondo Ohnaka. Never flown a starship before? No worries—on-the-job training is provided! (Height requirement: 38 inches)
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – A groundbreaking, multi-part attraction where you’ll join the Resistance in a secret mission against the First Order. Be prepared for unexpected twists and turns as you come face-to-face with Kylo Ren and his forces! (Height requirement: 40 inches)
Beyond the attractions, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge offers unique experiences:
- Build your own lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop.
- Assemble and activate a custom droid at Droid Depot.
- Use the Star Wars: Datapad in the Play Disney Parks app to explore Batuu in new ways.
- Encounter Star Wars characters roaming around the land.
And of course, no visit to Black Spire Outpost is complete without food, drinks, and shopping!
- Oga’s Cantina – Sip on galactic beverages in a lively cantina!
- Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo – Feast on intergalactic cuisine!
- Milk Stand – Try the legendary Blue Milk (or Green Milk!)
- Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities – Find rare Star Wars artifacts!
- Black Spire Outfitters – Dress like a true Batuu local!
- Creature Stall & Toydarian Toymaker – Discover exotic creatures and handcrafted toys!
Beyond Galaxy’s Edge: More Star Wars at Walt Disney World Resort
There’s more Star Wars magic to experience outside of Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios:
- Star Wars Launch Bay – Located in the Animation Courtyard, is an immersive exhibit that features movie props, concept art, and character meet-and-greets with Chewbacca, Darth Vader, and BB-8.
- Star Tours – The Adventures Continue – A 3D spaceflight simulator that takes you to multiple Star Wars destinations aboard a Starspeeder 1000—but watch out! The Imperial or First Order forces are on the hunt for a Rebel spy. (Height requirement: 40 inches)
