Our Family’s Spooky Night at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!

Spooky season is in full swing at Walt Disney World Resort! If you like the Fall/Halloween experience at Disney’s Magic Kingdom park during the day (and who doesn’t, am I right?), then I think you will absolutely love taking the experience to the next level by attending a Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a special ticket event held on select nights at Disney’s Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort. It’s one of Disney’s most popular seasonal celebrations – and for good reason! It’s fun, family-friendly, and full of exclusive entertainment that you can’t experience during regular park hours.
I attended one of these events recently, and I’m here to share all of the spooky fun details about my experience! On party nights, the park closes to daytime guests at 6 pm and the party officially kicks off at 7 pm, however, party goers can begin to enter the park as early as 4 pm – so that’s exactly what we did. You would be surprised at what you can get done before the party even begins! By the time the party started, we had already taken lots of Halloween-themed photos, ridden two of my favorite attractions, and had a snack while watching the sun set over Cinderella Castle (magical)!
Once the party started, we hit the treat trails first thing and loaded up on lots and lots of candy (seriously, so much candy). Then, took advantage of low wait times to experience the attractions with a Halloween overlay, such as Space Mountain and Haunted Mansion.
At this point, the evening took an unexpected turn because soon after the fireworks started, so did the rain! This wasn’t just a normal Florida shower that would last 10 minutes and be gone. This was a torrential downpour that would stick around for hours. This is when we had a decision to make – we could let it ruin our night and go back to our room disappointed, or make the best of it. I’m so glad we decided to “dance in the rain,” so to speak! Yes, we got absolutely soaked, but everyone was having so much fun that no one seemed to mind.
Shortly after the rain started, the park almost instantly cleared out, too, making everything from that point on a walk-on! So much so that we were able to ride the attraction, Tron, back-to-back 4 times with no wait at all. Normally, Tron is about an hour (or more) wait, even on a party night, so this was a real treat. True enough, some of the experiences were not operating due to the weather situation, but we had a blast doing what was available.
Overall, everyone agreed that it was a great night and one of those memories that will be talked about for years and years to come. Our favorite snack was the Jalapeno Popper Dog from Cosmic Ray’s, our favorite character sighting was the Headless Horseman riding through to kick off the “Boo to You” parade, and our favorite attraction with a Halloween overlay was Space Mountain in complete darkness. My party crew was a mixture of adults and teenagers, one of whom was a first-time Walt Disney World visitor. Everyone involved left the party happy, full of treats, soaked to the bone, exhausted, but agreeing that it was an incredible night!
