Navigating Walt Disney World with a Stroller: The Pros & Cons of Each Transportation Option
If you’ve ever done Disney with small kids, you know that your stroller is your ride or die—literally. As a mom of three little ones, we always travel with both a single and a double stroller, and on our most recent trip to Walt Disney World, I put every mode of transportation to the test.
Each one has its perks (and pain points), especially when you’re juggling bags, sleepy kids, and a stroller the size of a small SUV. So here’s everything I learned, straight from our recent adventure, about what it’s really like getting around Walt Disney World property with strollers in tow.
Skyliner
The Skyliner is such a fun and fast way to get between resorts and parks like Epcot and Hollywood Studios. We recently stayed at Beach Club Resort, so we loved having direct access to the Skyliner! We used it a lot this trip and learned some valuable stroller tips along the way.
Pros:
- Double stroller: With the tight space, they usually don’t add other parties into your car. You might bump into your own people, but hey… that’s family life!
- Single stroller: Super convenient, no folding needed and it fits easily into the cabin.
Cons:
- Double stroller: You have to fold it up before boarding, and getting the stroller loaded while the gondola is moving (yep, moving!) can be a little awkward, especially sideways.
- Single stroller: The walkway is narrow, and once you’re in, it still takes up a chunk of the small space.
Monorail
There’s something magical about the Monorail—it’s classic Disney. And when you’ve got kids and strollers, it can be one of the easier rides… usually.
Pros:
- Double stroller: You don’t have to fold it! Just push it right in and let the kids stay seated—huge win.
- Single stroller: Same deal—no folding and guaranteed seat for your little one.
Cons:
- Double stroller: That entrance to the monorail isn’t flat, there’s a slight bump you have to navigate, and not every Monorail car has room for a double.
- Single stroller: Still that tricky entry bump, but otherwise manageable.
Bus
The bus system is the workhorse of Walt Disney World transportation. It gets you to every resort and park—but stroller parents, be warned: this one takes work.
Pros:
- Double stroller: If you can stand near the exit, you’ll be the first off, which is a nice perk after a long day.
- Single stroller: Easier to manage, especially if you can grab a seat or hang on while standing.
Cons:
- Double stroller: You must fold it to board. Not ideal when your hands are full and your kids are tired. Plus, it’s big and takes up lots of space, especially when the bus is packed.
- Single stroller: Still needs to be folded, and juggling it plus the kids can be a real balancing act.
Boat
We took a few boat rides on this trip, and I was surprised how easy they were with strollers!
Pros:
- Double stroller: Most of the time, you can leave it open and roll it on. That’s gold when your kid is napping.
- Single stroller: Fits through the entrance smoothly and can also stay unfolded. Super chill option!
Cons:
- Double stroller: The entryway is narrow and you’ll likely only have one designated spot to park it.
- Single stroller: Same thing—limited parking once you’re on board.
Now, my final thoughts! After experiencing all of this firsthand on our most recent family trip, I can confidently say that some transportation options are more stroller-friendly than others. If you’re traveling with little ones like we always are (hello, double and single stroller life!), here’s my quick takeaway:
- Best for no-fuss loading: Monorail & Boats
- Most fun (but tricky with a double): Skyliner
- Most widely available (but takes work): Buses

Bonus pro tip: Pack an extra-large ‘carry-all’ bag for those moments when you have to collapse the stroller. Instead of scrambling to figure out where to stash everything from the under-stroller basket (think snacks, water bottles, park maps, that bubble wand you swore you’d leave behind…), just toss it all in your carry-all bag, sling it over your shoulder, and deal with it once you’re back in your room. Total game-changer.
